​Vaca Peña Middle School was recently honored by the California League of Educators with its coveted ‘Schools to Watch’ Award for 2024.

Gathered in the office with her colleagues at Kimme Charter Academy, Karen Hamrick, the lead custodian at Ernest Kimme Charter Academy and the Muzetta Thrower Adult Education Center, was honored as the Vacaville Unified School District's Classified Employee of the Year for 2023 - 2024.

Santa had a special helper this year, Oliviya Viertel, a first-grader at Fairmont Charter Elementary. Oliviya underwent treatment for Leukemia last year at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland

The Vacaville Unified School District Board of Trustees honored outgoing Michael Kitzes for his hard work and dedication as Board President for the past year.

During the November 16 board meeting, trustees, in a 6-0 vote, approved the naming of the softball field at Vacaville High School to honor Joan Mumaugh and her accomplishments during her 34-year career as a coach, teacher, Athletic Director, and Assistant Principal at the school.

Janithzia Contreras is affectionately known as Ms. Honey at the Muzetta Thrower Adult Education Center. As the Student Support Specialist, she is passionate about encouraging adults to return to school to continue their education

The 6th-grade students from Jean Callison Elementary School had an amazing opportunity to attend outdoor school at Camp Sempervirens from October 16th- 20th, 2023. This was the first time in many years our 6th-grade classes have had the opportunity to attend an outdoor school.

The Vacaville Unified School District welcomes the new Governing Board Trustee representing District 4, Lindsay Kelly. Kelly won a special election and filled one of the two open seats on the board and will hold office until the term ends in November of 2024.

Congratulations to Vacaville High School which was named to the 2023 AP School Honor Roll! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP program is delivering results and broadening access for students.

When you think of the back-to-school season, you may often think of kids and not necessarily adult students. The Muzetta Thrower Adult Education Center wants to change that with its vision of empowering adults to believe that it’s never too late to return to school.

This month, the new Wellness Center at Willis Jepson Middle School opened for its students.

Edwin Markham Elementary is the only Vacaville Unified School District site to offer a dual-immersion program. The program, SPICE (Spanish-English Peer Immersion and Cultural Education) offers its students an exciting opportunity to learn to read, write, and communicate naturally in two languages, English and Spanish.
