Vacaville Unified School District

Every school morning, before the first bell rings, some of Vacaville Unified's youngest and most vulnerable students climb aboard a bus where someone is waiting for them by name. For 12 years, that someone has often been Lupita Alvarez.

For Alyssa Fraga, high school has never been about just showing up; it's been about showing up for others.

For Joy Pederson, coming home to Will C. Wood High School isn't just a return to a familiar place. It's the place where she first discovered the teacher she wanted to become.

If you ask Mark Andan what makes Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy special, he might give you an answer you wouldn't expect.

When April Hernandez walked onto Hemlock's campus in 2013 as a substitute paraprofessional, she had no idea just how long she'd stay, or how much this little school would come to feel like home.

If Jaimee Reed could be any character, she would choose Barbie. Not because of the fashion or the pink, but because Barbie has never been limited to one possibility. She can be a doctor, a teacher, a businesswoman, an athlete, or just about anything she dreams of becoming.

Some roads to graduation are straight. Abbi Tiscornia's wasn't. But ask her about the road now, and she won't tell you about what went wrong. She'll tell you about what she found along the way.

There's something special happening at Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy, and once again, the numbers back it up. BCCA has held onto its spot as the No. 1 high school in Vacaville and No. 3 high school in the Vallejo Metro Area, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2026–2027 Best High Schools rankings.

There are seniors…and then there’s the senior. When Vacaville High School’s drumline takes the field this year, one student will be carrying more than just a bass drum. He’ll be carrying the tradition forward, too. Meet Alejandro Vasquez Pimentel, the drumline’s only senior and the student his teammates chose to lead them this season.

For 25 years, something powerful has been growing at Will C. Wood High School. What began as a single class, one section of students, and a small group of educators willing to believe in something bigger has become something truly special: a movement that continues to shape futures across an entire community.

There’s something truly special happening at Willis Jepson Middle School, and if you’ve been paying attention over the years, you know this isn’t new. Excellence is a tradition here.

Our programs provide students opportunities to receive homework help and targeted learning supports, physical activity, hands-on enrichment.

The Vacaville Unified School District Governing Board is proud to share that Sasha Begell has been identified as VUSD’s next Superintendent of Schools.

As news of incredible female athletes spread across the globe, from California native Alysa Liu skating to Olympic gold, to the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team claiming gold at the Winter Olympics, something extraordinary was happening right here in Vacaville: young women were showing that dreams, hard work, and belief in one another can truly change everything.

Vacaville Unified School District (VUSD) is proud to announce a new partnership with the California State University (CSU) system through a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing Direct Admission for Vacaville Unified students.
