Practice your SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) tech skills for the upcoming Field Test.  Students will encounter several technology components while taking the SBAC such as keyboarding, mouse skills, navigation etc.  This site serves as a resource for students and parents to help familiarize students with the necessary skills prior to taking the Field Test.  Check out the site and take a few of the activities out for a spin.

Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten Registration for 2014-15

Registration for transitional kindergarten (TK) and regular kindergarten will begin on Monday, March 3.   Please check your residence attendance boundary by clicking on the link on this page, “School Boundary Locator.”  That is the school where you will register your child for school for 2014-15.

Transitional kindergarten is for students who will be 5 between September 2, 2014 and December 2, 2014.  Regular kindergarten is for those students who will be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2014.

Please bring the following documents with you:  1) birth certificate; 2) immunization record; 3) proof of a physical exam after your child was 4 years, 3 months old or written proof of an appointment for an exam; 4) proof of residence address, e.g., PG&E bill or cable bill; 5) proof of a dental exam done within the year prior to registration.  Proof of a dental exam must be supplied to the school by May 31, 2015.  To expedite registration, please go to the VUSD web page at  Click on “Enrollment Forms” under “Quick Links.”  Complete the enrollment form and bring it with you.

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) were adopted by the State Board of Education at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year. Vacaville Unified is working to transition to these newly adopted standards, with full implementation expected by 2015. Our CCSS page has resources for parents, introductions and background information on this important change in education.

Every Minute Matters
A campaign to boost student attendance

Solano COE attendance logo

VUSD is partnering with the Solano County Office of Education to address chronic student absenteeism. The Every Minute Matters campaign seeks to educate families about the critical role they play in getting children to school on time every day. Better attendance in early grades leads to better reading performance, which leads to a higher likelihood to graduate from high school.
See the Every Minute Matters Toolkit, and read the letter from Jay Speck, Solano County Superintendent of Schools.
