Expanded Learning Opportunities Program

Program Overview

Vacaville Unified School District is excited to offer expanded after-school opportunities through our After School Education & Safety (ASES) and Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P).

Open to students in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 6th grade, these programs give kids a place to keep learning, growing, and having fun after the bell rings — with homework help, hands-on enrichment activities, and plenty of opportunities to build confidence and connect with friends.

Ready to get your child involved? Find registration details below. And be sure to check back on our website often — we'll keep you posted with the latest updates and announcements!

ASES / ELO-P After-School Program: Frequently Asked Questions

All VUSD students are eligible. However, state requirements prioritize enrollment for students in grades TK–6 who meet one or more Unduplicated Pupil Percentage (UPP) criteria:

  • Experiencing homelessness
  • Foster youth
  • English learners
  • Low-income (eligible for free or reduced-price meals)

Low-income UPP status is not automatic from year to year. A new application must be submitted each school year to confirm continued eligibility, even if your child qualified in 2025–2026.

UPP students receive first priority for enrollment. To check if your family qualifies, complete the UPP Form and submit it by mail or in person to:

Vacaville Unified School District
401 Nut Tree Dr.
Vacaville, CA 95687

Once received, your eligibility status will be processed shortly. After priority placements are filled, the district may offer additional enrollment opportunities.

The program is free for students who meet priority eligibility criteria — those identified as "unduplicated" because they qualify for free or reduced-price meals, are English learners, are experiencing homelessness, or are in foster care. If your family qualifies for a scholarship, it will be applied automatically at checkout.

Families who do not qualify as "unduplicated" will be charged $150 per month, per child.

Yes. Your family qualifies for a reduced rate of $75/month if:

  • Household size of 1, with annual income up to $29,526.00
  • Household size of 2, with annual income between $29,526.00 and $40,034.00
  • Household size of 3+, with annual income between $40,034.00 and $50,542.00

To apply the reduced rate, enter code RR75 at checkout.

Program hours run after school until 6 PM. Students on a late-morning TK/K (PM TK/K) schedule may access before-school care from the start of the regular school day until their program begins, pending space availability.

Students must attend a minimum of 15 hours per week, on a regular, ongoing basis. This is an enrichment and learning program — not a daycare or drop-in service — so intermittent or short-term participation does not meet program expectations. Continued enrollment depends on meeting these expectations, regardless of eligibility status or monthly payment.

Students who do not meet attendance expectations may have their spot offered to families on the waitlist. Additional attendance policies include:

  • Students absent from the school day may not attend the after-school program that day.
  • Absences due to school-sponsored activities are considered excused.
  • Students with frequent absences, insufficient weekly attendance, or repeated late pick-ups may be removed from the program to allow placement for other families.

Yes. If your child participates in another structured activity at the same time as the program — such as sports, dance, or another organized program — they may be released early to attend it. Those hours won't count toward the 15-hour weekly requirement, but your child will not lose their spot in the program for participating in a parallel activity.

  • A nutritious snack
  • Homework support
  • Structured physical activity
  • Academic and enrichment activities
