VUSD OFFERS K-8 OPTION FOR FAMILIES
VUSD is pleased to offer local families Sierra Vista as the first K-8 school in the district. Sierra Vista re-opened in 2016 after being closed during the economic downturn in 2011 and provides a small-school environment for students kindergarten through 8th grade.
The Sierra Vista K-8 project included three increments. The project began June of 2016 and will continue until the end of 2019.
Increment 1
included completely reconstructing both existing parking lots into one lot that better manages pedestrian safety, parking and traffic flow. Deteriorated sidewalks were replaced as well. Technology was upgrades included new intercom, clock, bell, phone and fire alarm systems. All classrooms now include the wall mounted ultra short throw projectors for instruction and new dynamic furniture that can be easily adjusted for individual learning as well as group projects. Some playground equipment was replaced to to damage or safety hazards. The dormant campus also required significant cleaning and repairs to become functional again. The site will also have new perimeter fencing around the campus, slated for installation in spring of 2017.
Increment 2
included the addition of two science classrooms and a new multipurpose room with a full kitchen. The new kitchen and multipurpose room was completed in August of 2018 with the kitchen providing service for two other schools as well.
Increment 3
will transform the current MP room into a library/media center and reconfigure the administration area.
