Fairmont Charter Elementary School

ABOUT: Fairmont Charter Elementary School became a charter school in 2008 and opened in August 2009 in a new 53,000 square foot, 2-story all-inclusive facility with 27 classrooms, office, library , computer lab and much more. It is the first energy efficient facility designated a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver School in the country. Fairmont Charter Elementary School is recognized as a Gold Ribbon School by the California Department of Education and a 2016 Gold School with the California PBIS Coalition. Fairmont Charter is committed to work in partnership with families and community members to prepare students to be compassionate and responsible citizens in the 21st century. With goals of meeting or exceeding state standards and preparing all students to graduate from 6th grade prepared to make good choices, act responsibly and continue successful learning in middle school and beyond, Fairmont Charter School builds the foundation to help ensure students are prepared to succeed.
TOURS/ MEETINGS: An Open House is scheduled in conjunction with Fairmont’s Science and Art Faire on Wednesday, February 15th, 6:30-8:00pm. Families interested in learning more about Fairmont Charter are invited to tour the school, speak with staff and visit classrooms. Science and art project will be on display, along with star gazing through an outdoor telescope.

Ernest Kimme Charter Academy for Independent Learning
DATES: Continuous Enrollment throughout School Year
ABOUT: Ernest Kimme Charter Academy for Independent Learning offers students in kindergarten through 12th grade unique and innovative learning opportunities in an intimate and safe school setting. The Academy utilizes a blended approach to learning through independent study, online coursework and classroom instruction. This approach to learning is augmented with service learning and community engagement to help each student thrive academically while learning the importance of community. The staff makes every effort to ensure that the experience for each student at the Ernest Kimme Charter Academy is customized to their unique needs.
TOURS/ MEETINGS: Orientations are held throughout the school year. Families interested in enrolling must complete an enrollment packet and submit it to the main office on the Friday prior to the orientation date. The next orientation date is Wednesday, February 1st, from 3:30-4:30pm in the Sierra Vista Multi-Purpose Room. Families that would like to learn more about the program are invited to attend our orientations as well. The remaining orientation meetings for the 2016/17 school year will be held on March 1st and 29th, as well as April 26th.

Vacaville Early College High School (VECHS) Program
DATES: Enrollment applications accepted January 17 through April 13, 2017
ABOUT: Vacaville Early College High School (VECHS) offers VUSD students the opportunity to earn free college credits through an educational partnership between Solano Community College and Vacaville Unified School District. Students graduate with a high school diploma and up to 60 transferrable college credits, possibly earning an Associates degree by the time they graduate from high school. The VECHS program is designed to prepare students for college success by providing them with rigorous coursework and college classes beginning in the 9th grade. The program is available to all students in grades 9 through 12. Classes are taught at both Will C. Wood and the Solano Community College Vacaville Center. The VECHS curriculum focuses on college preparatory and college level courses with a focus on career exploration and college readiness. The VECHS program is structured to challenge all students, and may be especially beneficial for students who are from family demographics that are typically underrepresented in college, and those students who may be the first in their family to attend and complete college.
TOURS/ MEETINGS: The VECHS program will be holding Open House events for enrollment into the program for Fall 2017, and all interested parents are invited to attend one of the presentations. Each Open House will be followed by a Q & A session, and enrollment paperwork will be available. The Open House events will be held as follows:

SPICE (Spanish/English Peer Immersion and Cultural Education) Program
DATES: Enrollment is limited to kindergarten students only. Enrollment dates will be announced in March 2017
ABOUT: SPICE is a dual language immersion program offered at Markham Elementary School. SPICE offers students an exciting opportunity to learn to read, write, and communicate in both Spanish and English. This program combines students from two language groups in one classroom and teaches them in both languages. SPICE classrooms include balanced numbers of English, Spanish and bilingual speaking students, gradually working towards a goal of teaching half of the school day in each language. The curriculum taught in the SPICE Program is aligned with State Standards in all areas. Enrollment in the SPICE Program is limited to new kindergarten students, and parents are asked to commit a period of 7 years (K-6) to the program.

Buckingham Charter Magnet High School
DATES: Pre-Enrollment starts January 9, 2017 and ends on January 31, 2017 at 3:00 pm.
ABOUT: As a charter school within Vacaville Unified School District with a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics), Buckingham Charter Magnet High School offers a rigorous curriculum to prepare students to become future-ready global contributors. With school-wide expectations that include a college prep education, technology skills for the 21st century and establishing a foundation of lifelong learning through personal accountability. BCMHS students are prepared to graduate with the skills necessary to move directly into a 4-year university or career certification. Students will also learn the importance of respect, civic responsibility, global awareness and appreciation of social and cultural diversity.
TOURS/ MEETINGS: An Enrollment Information Night will be held on Thursday, January 26th at 6:00pm followed by an open house at 7:00pm at the Buckingham campus.

Sierra Vista K-8 School
DATES: Enrollment packets will be accepted beginning January 30th through February 17, 2017.
ABOUT: Sierra Vista K-8 is currently VUSD's only kindergarten through 8th grade school. The mission of Sierra Vista K-8 is to prepare students to be respectful leaders through service to their community, while preparing students to be college and career ready. Sierra Vista K-8 has a school-wide AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Program. AVID prepares K-12th grade students for four-year college eligibility, and focuses on bringing out the best in each individual student. With a focus on organization, goal-setting and collaborative learning, AVID helps every Sierra Vista student succeed.
TOURS/ MEETINGS: An informational meeting regarding all that Sierra Vista has to offer will be held on Tuesday, January 24th from 6:30-7:30pm at the Sierra Vista campus. A school tour is also available for all families looking to learn more about Sierra Vista K-8 on Friday, February 10th, beginning at 9:00am.

ACE Charter Elementary School (Alternative Cooperative Education)
DATES: Enrollment for new K-6th grade students will begin on January 30th through February 17, 2017.
ABOUT: The mission of the Alternative Cooperative Education (ACE) Charter School is to create a cooperative community dedicated to helping each child reach their full potential. ACE incorporates parent involvement, multi-age classrooms, and learning outside of the classroom to help support and encourage each student’s unique and individual development.
TOURS/ MEETINGS: An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 7th from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Hemlock school campus. Spanish translation will be available at this meeting.
