Enrollment Q and A

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OPEN ENROLLMENT AND AN INTRADISTRICT AGREEMENT?

Open Enrollment will keep your child permanently enrolled at the school you request through middle and high school without the need to submit an Intradistrict agreement each year.

WHAT IF OPEN ENROLLMENT IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE SCHOOL I PREFER?  CAN I REQUEST AN INTRADISTRICT AGREEMENT (IDA) AND WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR TO REQUEST OPEN ENROLLMENT?

Yes, you can submit an Intradistrict Application and request Open Enrollment for the following year, if available.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH SCHOOL IS MY SCHOOL OF RESIDENCE?

Use the School Area Locator web site to view the established boundaries for each school. For Open Enrollment purposes, the school your child should attend according to where you live is his/her school of residence.

HOW DO I REQUEST A DIFFERENT SCHOOL FOR MY SON/DAUGHTER?

Open Enrollment is available to students of secondary schools. Applications are available at the Vacaville Unified School District Student Services Department, located at the Muzetta Thrower Education Center, located at 100 McClellan Street, Room 4, during the Open Enrollment period which runs each year in the month of February. Complete and submit the application to the Student Services Department no later than 3:00 p.m., the last business day of February. Only applications received by that date and time will be included in the process. All applicants will be notified of the status of their Open Enrollment request as soon as applications are processed.  If we are unable to approve your request, your student will be placed on a waiting list at the requested school for the following school year. Only residents of Vacaville Unified School District can participate in the Open Enrollment process.

WHAT IF I LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE DISTRICT?

Current Interdistrict Attendance Agreements must be renewed annually through the District Office for the school district where you reside. Only residents of Vacaville Unified School District can participate in the Open Enrollment process.
