2013-14 Kindergarten Registration Dates
Kindergarten registration for 2013-14 will begin Mon., March 4, 2013, at all VUSD elementary schools.
This year, children registering for kindergarten must be age 5 by Oct. 1 of 2013, a full month earlier than in the past.
Senate Bill 1381, known as the Kindergarten Readiness Act, gradually moves up the age at which students can enroll in kindergarten. For 2014-15 (and each year thereafter) children must turn 5 by Sept. 1.
Children who will be 5 years old between October 2, 2013 and December 2, 2013 may be registered in Transitional Kindergarten. If you have a child who will turn 5 between these two dates, please register at your school of residence beginning on March 4. Your school of residence can be found using the School Boundary Locator.
Registration forms will be available at the school sites, or parents may print the ones provided here in English or Spanish. Take completed forms to the school on or after March 4. Please print on white paper only. Check school web sites for specific times enrollment forms are accepted. When presenting enrollment forms, please bring the following:
- birth certificate (your child must be five years old on or before October 1, 2013)
- immunization record
- proof of a physical exam after your child was 4 years, 3 months old or written proof of an appointment for an exam
- proof of residence address such as a PG&E bill or cable bill
- proof of a dental exam done within the year prior to registration. Proof of a dental exam must be supplied to the school by May 31, 2014.
